Should I refund this person's money on ebay?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
Someone ordered a doll from me.

She later complained that she didn't get it in time for birthday of girl, which wasn't my fault.

Now she has told ebay she returned the item, but I never received it.

Ebay keeps sending me emails about this. What should I do? In principle it's so unfair, but in general ebay has been good for me.

Thanks.

I would contest the complaint. The buyer should order the item well in advance of the need date. I don't know when it was ordered or when you shipped it. In your eBay ad, you should place a statement relating to processing and shipping time allowances (Please allow [x] weeks for delivery). Respond to the emails, otherwise you'll lose both the money and the doll. When you or the buyer ships an item, a tracking number should be assigned. That will let you know when the item was delivered. If it was shown to be delivered and the buyer says otherwise, the buyer or you should file a claim with the shipper. They will find out if the item was delivered, but probably can't show it was delivered to the correct address or if someone came by and stole the package while the buyer wasn't home.

Only if the doll turns up, or the buyer provides tracking to show it was delivered.

If eBay is asking you to do something, then put a response into the return / dispute that you will happily refund WHEN the doll is returned.

Sounds like she's trying to pull a fast one.

Just curious, how much was the doll? How long was it between payment and you shipping it?

If it was cheap and you can eat the cost, it might be worth doing so just for reputation sake (even if it wasn't your fault).

If you stuck to your delivery times and it arrived as promised on the date, keep your money. Next time, this buyer will get off their **** and buy it in a shop

No. If you did not receive the item, do not refund her.

If she can not provide tracking to prove it was returned you have no worries.
