Direct Deposit?

I recently got hired at a job and they only offer direct deposit. I don't want to wire my money with my parents' bank account since it'll be really inconvenient and confusing. I'm considering signing up for a prepaid visa card but I want to know what's the catch. Are they going to take a percentage of my money, charge me for a whole bunch of random bs, etc. I know for sure that my parents aren't going to make me a separate bank account so what are you guys' experience with prepaid cards? Thanks in advance!

There should not be any fees or expenses with a prepaid credit card. I have two types of credit card, one I use as my major credit card for purchases and the other (prepaid) which I prefer to use when making online purchases. Reason being is that I would not like to risk my regular credit card online, with several thousand dollars to pay back if abused. The beauty of prepaid is that you can only spend what is in the account and many people prefer a credit card that limits your spending in this way, with no interest. I would think you would be better off with your own bank account, as they offer you interest if your savings amount to something. Your call though, but don't forget if you lose the prepaid credit card you are risking all the money on that card if someone else gets their hands on it. Treat it like cash; a credit card without the regular safety features. Your parents don't have to set up a bank account for you; you can do both these things on your own.

If the job is doing payroll, they most likely cannot deposit the money onto a prepaid card. And almost all of them have fees, or restrictions on where you can use them.

Why wouldn't your parents get you a bank account? You should already have one! My kids got theirs when they were babies for savings and stuff.

Those prepaid cards are a scam.

Open a real damn bank account in a real damn bank in your neighborhood.

Yes, there would be a fee. Can you t?up for your own bak account?
