I'm 17 and I've made a deal with my parents that I can adopt a particular dog from a shelter if I can get the money to bring him home. The problem is, my job search has gone a whole lot of nowhere, so I have no continuous income. The adoption and vet fees will be around $375 total, plus a pet deposit to our landlord, so call that $600-ish. The rest is to cover his initial care costs, like a sturdy crate cos he's a big dog. I'm aware it very well may take more than $800 with those numbers, but it's a place to start.

Anyways, since it seems I won't be getting hired in the area I live in, how can I raise the money? We can cover his extended care (food, grooming, shots, heartworm prevention, etc) it's just the startup costs I need help with.

Talk to the adoption center and see if they can lend you a crate. Most do. Also sometimes Vets do work for nothing. See if that available. Talk to the adoption center and tell them your problem. Two things to keep in mind. Maybe they need someone to work at the adoption center to dog walk, clean crates, feed wash towels or blankets. Maybe you can work off some of the money. You can cut grass, help the elderly by shopping, cleaning etc. If you know the computer you can also teach someone who does not know how to use their computer. Usually the elderly.
