How to stop "telemarketing" calls?

That scammer is "spoofing" the phone number. Obviously, they are not calling you from a 4-digit number because those don't exist. They are using a software program that fools your Caller ID. They are hoping that you will be surprised by the 4-digit number.... and that you will answer just to see what it is. There are call-blocking systems that are sold. Many phone providers offer packages but they won't block a 4-digit number since they aren't supposed to exist. Some phone systems have built-in "call block"..... they may block the 4-digit number since they can be programmed to stop the last call from calling you again.

Just hang up as fast as they call. When you see the 4 digits, lift the receiver and hang up immediately. They may call for days or weeks but they will move on to someone else.

There are online forums to talk about telemarketers and phone scammers. Sometimes you can get more information there. 800notes. com and whocallsme. com (free to visit - i am not promoting them in any way).

You've got a problem if the incoming numbers change. Try putting all these calls on hold, preferably with elevator music.

You cannot put a business on the Do Not Call List and there is really no way to stop.

You are welcome to try a program I wrote for windows computers that blocks telemarketers based on their caller id number (fake or not) or name. The program is called CallClerk and you can find out more about it at www.callclerk.com - there is a free trial period with it too. Hope it helps.

how do you know they are telemarketing?

could be an old employee calling you from google voice,,, mad that they got fired,, or someone unhappy with business

I work in a business office (type and place is irrelevant) and we get calls every 10-15 minutes from a four digit phone number (the number changes sporadically but it is always four digits long). When someone picks up, there is no voice on the other line- just a blank call. Furthermore, when these calls come in they will come in 5 at a time. This is extremely distracting and it ties up the lines preventing us from talking to important people who may be calling.

Anyone know what this is? How can I put an end to this?
