How can I get donations to start a bookstore?

First of have you thought about how and from where you can get the books it can be difficult to start dealing with publishers as a start off. But you can also get donations of books that you resell. It might make it easier if you started a business from home - then leaflet around various churches - and anyother source of customers just to get your name out there - maybe as well think of other items you can sell.

will you buy the building or rent it - find out all the costs - local taxes what about heat and light costs etc.

If its a rental then will the owner give you a discount or cheap rent. That is a donation in kind.

I guess you are in the US so you maybe have to look sources of funds - maybe churches can help point you in the right direction perhaps from estates or trust funds.

Good luck

There are a plethora of ways to obtain funds. You can ask local churches for donations, fellow Christians, starting kickstarters, asking people for donations, thrifting and selling for higher price etc.

The universe always rewards a noble cause.

Kickstarter is legit. I have helped fund many things there.

There is also another site called GoFundMe.

My guess is that all of these sites have fees and you always have to do your own networking/promoting.

By soliciting local churches for funding.

My mother and I are really interested in starting a christian bookstore, but don't have the money to get started. We have a building in mind that is just a small brick building in a perfect area because there are no bookstores for a few miles and the area is bringing business in like crazy.

I've looked into Kickstarter, but i've seen mixed reviews. Are there any other websites that are similar to this, but without fees? or without having to do your own networking?
