difference between salary and income?

isn t salary when you get paid like each week or is that different

Salary is what you might get paid by your employer (but see my note below).

Income is what you actually receive which might include your salary, minus any taxes, plus any grants or financial benefits you receive from any source plus interest on your savings plus gifts from rich uncles (Huh! I wish!) plus income from your trust fund if you have one ... so basically all sources of money you receive.

For most of us, our only income is our wage/salary after taxes.

People treat the words 'salary' and 'wage' as meaning the same or else they think one is paid monthly while the other is paid weekly. Both are mistaken. The actual distinction is whether they relate to a direct or indirect cost.

"Salaries are received by an individual from an employer in exchange for the work that the individual does in the organisation. Income has a broader scope and includes other forms of inflows such as investment income, interest income for bank deposits, dividends income, profits, income from the sale of assets (sale of car, house, etc)."

Salary is what you get from your job

Income is salary plus interest, dividends, royalties and etc

Salary is your gross, and spendable income is after taxes and deductions.
