can I earn money while on social security disabilty?

Earnings which average $1090 a month or more will eventually result in the termination of benefits since that amount is considered to be substantial and gainful work activity.

If you decide to try working be sure to report it to social security as you are required to do by law. You report work activity; they evaluate it. You can report it by either calling 1-800-772-1213 or by writing or visiting your nearest social security office. You will need to complete form SSA-821 for each and every job you have so you might just as well download the form, complete it and mail it to your nearest office - that will take care of your reporting your work activity.

Just be sure to photocopy the form before you mail it in and keep it in a file marked "social security." If work ends be sure to report that as well.

NOTE: If someone reading this gets SSI disability instead of social security disability not only are you required to report that you are working but you are also required to provide SS with proof of your earnings on a monthly basis to avoid being overpaid. Half of what you earn over $85 a month will reduce the SSI benefit - that is not the case if you get social security disability benefits. SSI is the federal welfare program; it is NOT social security.

Yes, but there are so many restrictions that you should go to the SS website (Google can I work while on SS Disability) or better yet contact the SS office

http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10095.pdf

for the manual on how to Legally Cheat other SS recipients, by getting added income on a trial basis for 36 months.

By law yes.
