Can I overdraft more than once?

I'm with regions bank

Absolutely you can. You can overdraft as many times as it takes until the bank closes your account. Every item presented will create an overdraft. They can really add up fast, so it's best to not even get one.

And this is not to mention the fees for the returned check at the place you wrote the check to. They tack on fees also that are separate from the overdraft fees at the bank. A $5 check could easily get to be $75 you end up paying on it after all the fees are included.

Yes but keep in mind that at some point a bank is going to want to close your account. It is truly not a smart thing to do. With my bank not only am I charged $36 for the overdrawn check but I am charged $7 for each day my account is overdrawn. At least that's what the fees were when I last overdrew my account about 8 years ago. And if the bank doesn't cover your check you will also end up having to pay fees to the creditor.

I once wrote my rent check twice - and didn't realize it until I ended up with over $450 in fees for all of the bounced checks - that was the last time I ever withdrew my account.

Ask the bank about what protections are in place.

All banks tend to have SOMETHING. Mine waives one overdraft fee a year but that's absolutely it.

However, my bank hasn't been anywhere near overdraft in about 12 years because I don't spend money I don't have so...

If you repay the first overdraft OK then the bank will probably allow you another.
