Title on my bank card?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I live in England. I recently got married and I went into my bank to change my title and surname. (I am with Barclays). They changed my name with no problem and issued me a new bank card. However my new bank card and any correspondence I receive now does not state my title of mrs on it. I often need bank statements to use as proof of name and address, and now my title is not used. When I changed it in branch the lady said it does not make a difference, however it does to me. Am I within my right to go in and ask them to include my title on my card and letters?

Also other family members are with the same bank and their post and cards all state their title.

Thanks

I bank with Nat West and my bank card does not have my title, nor do my 2 credit cards.

However the statements do.

In the 21st century our Mrs title is not valued.

Yes it needs changing as that is not a true title to your new marital status. Go into Barclays and ask to speak to someone more senior, it should be changed especially if you use your bank card requiring your name details at time of the transaction eg online banking etc.

You can ask. Generally this is something on the form when you get the account. Its not an issue (and makes no difference to the bank; its just your preference)

forget whether the 'lady in the bank' thinks it no longer matters,

it clearly does to you

and if you were a Dr, or Prof or .....

So just ring the heklp line for the bank,

and 'they' will arrange for it to change and be re-issued

if not, well plenty of banks offering 100 pounds etc to move accounts :)

why not move to one who listens to their customers .....

Their move ?
