Should I go to work today?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
So I got hired at a beach store and I work from 10-4 which isn't that bad. However they don't give me any breaks to eat AT ALL. And yesterday I was sick and when I called them to let them know that I may not be able to come into work tomorrow my boss said "well, tomorrow theirs a festival at the beach so it's going to be kinda busy" <_< he's kinda a jerk (due to other experiences). Also I have to finish editing an essay and I have to study for an AP history test I have tomorrow! Should I go into work still?

Yes, you should go in "still".

Your boss being a jerk - which is only your opinion - has nothing to do with it. He told you it's going to be a busy day. Employees always think bosses are jerks when bosses don't buy into "sick" or put up with taking off work on a moment's notice or even expecting employees to do the jobs they were hired for. Young employees think employers "disrespect" them if employers don't "understand" all these reasons that young employees use to get out of work.

Doubtful you are that "sick" if you want to do all this homework.

And get over yourself - breaks and lunchtimes are not federally mandated - meaning there are no federal laws requiring specific breaks or lunch times. That's something most self-entitled young people think is another entitlement for them. There are some state laws regarding them - have no idea what state you are. However, 6 hours is not such a big deal. I expect you may go longer than that on days off.

Yes go u feel better don't worry and yesterday was in the past so think about now and tomorrow and ur future

and me i was sick on tuesday and Wednesday but i still went to the university because of the freaking AC don't ever postpone the work of today to tomorrow its a sin

Yes. Honestly you should be holding yourself to a higher standard.

earn for eat, don't eat for earn.
