Question about depositing/withdrawing a check?

So I was just given a check to me and I want to withdraw the money from it. There is $100 on it and I want to spend it on myself!

So hear I go: If I have the check and I deposit it at the ATM, can I just withdraw it directly after to get cash?

Thanks!

That depends on your bank, if you are a regular customer, you have a savings and a checking account, maybe a car loan and they know you they may give you instant access but not from an ATM deposit, for all they know you are putting a plain piece of paper in the deposit envelope and then withdraw money

An ATM deposit would not post until the next business day, so if you want to spend that $100 take a $100 out of one of your accounts you have with the bank and spend that, so when the check clears you are even

While the baqnk will count it as part of your account almost immediately, all cheques need to clear before you withdraw the money. So, either you need to have the money already there, or wait a few days before you withdraw it.

No. You usually have to wait a few days for the check to clear. If you already had another $100 in your account, you could withdraw that.

Typically no, you have to wait for the check to clear the issuing bank to get the full amount, your own bank can't immediately identify a counterfeit check.

Go cash the check at the bank it was drawn on, and that way you get the money right away (assuming the check is good).
