I need to borrow money for a family emergency so I got on line and started to fill out different applications. I received an email from a Lisa Smith who claims she can lend me the money and it would be in my cking account in 12 hours. She just wanted 100 dollars for the transfer fee. I gave her no personnel information except my name and the amount I would like to borrow. Do you think this is a scam?

It's a scam and illegal to ask for money to receive a loan. Transfer fees for Western Union are $10 and are taken out of the amount being transferred, not paid by the receiver. So if you were being sent $1000 you would receive $990 when you picked up from Western Union

But legitimate lenders NEVER use Western Union. They only deposit money into a bank account and even then the transfer fee is nowhere near $100 and the fee is taken out of the funds transferred

what will happen is that you will pay this $100 and that will be it. No money in your account, and no Lisa Smith responding to any of your messages !

Drop contact with this person immediately ! Its a scammer and most likely not Lisa Smith - probably an AFrican sat in a dirty internet cafe in Nigeria !

I was thinking that it was a scam but she just sent another email stating I can have the money sent to western union. All she needs is there address. I am desperate for this loan but I don't want to make a huge mistake. What do you think now?

It is a scam for the amount you want to borrow. Unless over a million and a corporate business deal. Then you will know who you are dealing with there on a high level. Might be more than that with the armord car and such.
