Did I deserve to be fired?

I called my boss a "saggy old witch"

You would have lasted about 10 seconds - just sayin'..it is called insubordination, harassment, and a few other fireable offenses. And needless to say, you would not be using the firm for a job reference (at least not a good reference). There is a pretty bright line between personal attacks on a person and constructive criticism, you not only went up to the line, you went well beyond it. There is no "positive aspect" about the comment you made.

Yes, "you are fired" would have been the first words out my mouth if you said something like that to me

You work for Hillary?

The knee-jerk reaction is no, but it also shouts with 'why would you wanna stay?'

But the confident supervisor would use your willingness to speak how you feel as a positive aspect and want to encourage others to do the same. Then she's allowed to speak frank and direct when you screw up or make any level of mistakes you're liable to make.

Just sayin'

in most states, you can be fired for any reason at any time and insulting your boss is a good reason to get sh%tcanned

The question you need to be asking is: Why would anyone keep me on after acting so disrespectfully?

Don't you feel you have crossed the limit. What you would do in the similar circumstances ?

Yes you did.

Yep! That is "cause", specifically: Insubordination. Might also come under "Sexual Harassment".

she sounds like a saggy old witch

you should had been fired.
