Just received a delivery of books from Amazon to an apartment address, with the Post Office doing the delivery to the destination address; selected free shipping. If the management office accepts parcels, the Postal carrier will leave the packages for tenants in the management office and place a note in the tenant's apartment mail box. Luckily, that is what happens at my complex.
If the block of apartment unit mail boxes contains parcel lockers, the Postal carrier will place the package in a numbered parcel box and put the key in your apartment mail box.
If the Postal carrier normally delivers parcels to an apartment unit door, then the Amazon box will be handled the same way. This might mean the box would be placed at the apartment door or only a note left in the apartment mail box saying delivery attempted, call to schedule another delivery.
Back in the UK, they used to leave it with my neighbours if I did not answer the door or at the nearest post office. In France, in the laundry shop below my apartment. In Dubai, since there is no Amazon, the delivery company calls you up and schedules delivery. Here in Japan, they leave it in my mailbox if it fits. If not, they leave a note in my mailbox. I became friendly with the restaurant owner downstairs so the porter (who is only there during day-time) gives it to the restaurant owner to pass on if it needs a signature but that usually is not an issue since I can pick the delivery hour with Amazon.
That is something that your local mail man could answer.
in your mailbox if it fits. if not, they leave it on our doorstep. they dont knock on doors here, i get crap left on my doorstep while i am sitting inside!
