Mailing a letter?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I'm mailing a letter and this is my first time it's just one piece of paper in a envelope I have a forever stamp from 2014 with the fireworks on it would that cover the cost or should I I buy another one?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) bases pricing of mail on a combination of size, weight, shape, destination, item valuation, and class of service selected. The information included is for mail sent from one United States location to another.

Using an envelope which does not exceed a maximum length of 11-1/2 inches, maximum height of 6-1/8 inches, or maximum thickness of 1/4 inch, USPS First-Class Mail service will send a one ounce weight letter for $0.49. To send a single sheet of paper in a standard letter envelope will cost you $0.49, one Forever stamp. If the stamps you purchased in 2012, 2013, or 2014 have the word Forever on their face, they are currently worth $0.49 each. Forever stamps, which come in a variety of image designs and sizes, can be used on envelopes for no additional postage charge when you mail a letter, even if the Post Office increases postage prices. They are, as the name implies, forever stamps.

The postage price increases as the weight goes up. The following are some real postage prices for First Class Mail letter rates based on envelope weight.

one ounce = $0.49

two ounces = $0.70

three ounces = $0.91

four ounces - $1.61

five ounces - $1.82

six ounces - $2.03

seven ounces - $2.24

eight ounces - $2.45

nine ounces - $2.66

ten ounces - $2.87

ADD'L...

Anyone can mail a letter or package to someone else. USPS does have restrictions on what you can send through the mail, and some items violate state and/or federal laws. You need to have a valid name and destination address for the individual who will receive the item, and you need to place the correct amount of postage on the envelope or package to cover the shipping cost. Drop it in one of the blue postal mailboxes, hand it to a Postal carrier, or take it to a local Post Office branch.

To prepare a letter envelope or padded envelope for mailing, you will need to place your name and your return address in the upper left corner of the mailing envelope. The name and destination address of the recipient goes centered in the lower half of the envelope face. The postage stamps go in the upper right corner.

For the Return Address...

Your Name

Your Street Address and Your Apartment Number (if one is part of the address)

Your City, State, ZIP Code

For the To (Destination) Address...

Name

Street Address and Apartment Number (if one is part of the address)

City, State, ZIP Code

no problem use one forever stamp on a regular envelope, total of which is under 2 ounces with the letter

the forever stamps are always good even if the price of postage changes. that is why they are called "forever". they are for standard letter mail like the one you sent.

Forever stamps are just that. One on the envelope and you are good.

nope that will be fine
