- next question--
I was also wondering if I wanted an item earlier can I just go to my local post office to pick it up in person--- there was a Amazon order shipped via UPS Surepost and they have transferred it to post office few days back but its still has not been delivered--- so can I just go there in
USPS does deliver Express Mail and some parcels on Sundays, but only in the few areas that have a driver available. Most places will not have a driver.
Smartpost will not be delivered on Sunday because it has no urgency.
Going to the post office to look for a parcel that is to be delivered is futile for three main reasons. 1. It might be out with the Letter Carrier. 2. Clerks do not have time to go look for it because they often have a line at the counter. 3. Often your Letter Carrier works from a different building than the retail services and it won't be there.
Retired clerk . First give the post office a call some of the sure post deliveries are handled by other companies first and they do get scanned as at the post office because there are several packages in a group that get delivered with one scan from that company. Call and they will go back and make sure it is there then you can have them keep it there and pick it up if like or redeliver it. If it is not there have them check on it and amazon also, if it had a tracking and was at the post office it should have been scanned attempt delivery also so this makes me believe it is not there.. Good luck
For the 2014 holidays, from 17 November through 25 December, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will deliver on Sunday any parcels shipped using their services.

Normally, USPS only offers the Sunday delivery option for the Priority Mail Express service in many major markets. The sender would need to select and pay for this additional option.
Also, USPS has entered into an agreement with Amazon to provide Sunday delivery of Amazon merchandise to certain destination locations. News stories indicate more cities will be added as Amazon continues to expand this service option with the USPS.
