Can banks take overdraft instantly?

Yeah I've just got a £30 loan from wonga to pay phone bill but my bank was overdraft and had a letter saying they will take the payment of £25 from my account on the 29th but it's now only the 10th, I applied for the loan just over a hour ago and it still hasn't recieved in my bank yet, is it the bank taking the payment soon as it went in my account or has the loan just not went through yet

All money paid in is added to your balance = if the balance starts 'negative' (i.e. you are in 'overdraft') then what you put in is first used to reduce or eliminate the negative amount ...

If the Bank "letter saying they will take the payment of £25 " is a fee / charge, then they will take that on the 29th, reducing your balance at that time (and maybe putting you back into overdraft)

when it goes into your account it will show as a payment into the account, the bank will automatically take it because an overdraft is just a sliding scale of how much money you do or do not have in your account at any time. When the money goes in you will be not as overdrawn, then when you pay the bill you will be overdrawn once more.

Your WONGA loan is £30 the bank is asking for only £25, so if the bank took it, what happened to the missing £5? (£30-£25 = £5).

I suggest you phone your bank tomorrow to resolve this mystery. After that you can phone Wonga to ask them where your loan is.

Any money thats paid into your account will go to pay off the overdraft first

A bank can take up to 4 working days to recognise a credit. They don't need that long at all, it's just one of the tricks they can pull. However, you have plenty of time to meet your deadline.
