Who owns the copyright ?

You, they are your photo's and you own the original art. Copyright extends to the heir(s) of the artist for 70 years after death

Your aunt has no claim if she was not mentioned in the will, and none at all if your mother was intestate.

Usually if you take the photo and you publish the photos, then you would take the action to copyright them.

Get a lawyer to help you with this. If the pictures are legitimately your property, then you should have no problem, but do need legal consultation to make sure you do everything right.

My mother, now dead, was a keen amateur painter and some of her paintings are quite good.

My brother and I inherited her estate and agreed verbally that he took the money plus a dinner service while I took the property and other goods; it worked out about even.

If I publish photos of Mother's painting, who owns the copyright ? The photos have been taken by me.

My mother's sister is also still around but there are no other close relatives.
