Want to start embroidery business?

I want to start my own business but I dont know what to get. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of big machines but I'm not sure?

Start with a small machine and then upgrade when you get enough business, you don't want to spend the amount of money you spend on a car for a machine until you are getting enough cash flow to pay for it. I got a Brother PE770 machine from Mr Vac & Mrs Sew. They had a special deal called a Grand Slam package. It had everything I needed to start embroidery myself and I'm pretty sure they are the only ones who sell this package

First find customers. The machines start at about 30K for a good one and later you might add a silk screening or fabric printing and vinyl cutting equipment so will have a good bit of money tied up. It takes a long time to develop a customer base. Also you might want a machine that does several hats at once. The machines are noisy and vibrate so you will not want them in your house. Zoning might not allow a business in the house anyhow and customers will come all hours to pick up orders.

Consider buying out an existing business and being trained so you get the equipment, training and customer list.

Right now, you should start with the small machines. And once you will see that your business is growing, then you should think of implementing big machines. For fresh and creative embroidery designs for your customers, visit www.oregonpatchworks.com
