Starting an online Jewelry Business or Alternative?

You need a resale license (or whatever name your state or country calls it) issued by the local board of equalization. The government wants their taxes and wholesalers won't do business with you otherwise. Look for wholesalers that will enter into a dropshipping partnership with you, otherwise you will need to invest in inventory which would be really expensive for jewelry.

Hi there,

I am wanting to start an online business such as a small online store. I am really hoping on selling jewelry, starting with mens, then womens, then watches etc. But I was wondering how it would all work? i want to sell all sorts of brands of jewelry, not create my own. How do I get suppliers? how would I register etc. I want to send from my home, so would I need to buy it first then send it? Also is it 'legal' to buy from a common jewelry store, say at a shopping mall, then advertise it on my website? How would I get expensive brands to be my suppliers?

If this fails, I still want to have my own online store, but do you have any ideas of what I can sell other than jewelry, I want a part time small online store, that I can sell things on, but I am really struggling to find out how it works with supplying then posting to 'my' customers. Any ideas for small online stores are appreciated!
