I might become self employed?

If you are going to earn that much, you should hire an accountant to advise you and take care of your records and taxes.

If I was you I would keep your current job.

16K a year is a good wage for someone your age, I know you are probably looking at the OTE but the guy who interviewed you probably wasn't on 75K PA either.

It sounds like a sales job and a lot of companies are not buying much at the moment

You would have to fill in your tax and if you do earn high you also pay more tax. A lot more tax...

Then holidays, because you would be self employed you wouldn't get your usual 4-6 weeks paid leave

I could go on and on but you have to consider what would happen if you don't reach your targets, you would be out of the door and in these times out of a job. It is also very difficult in these times to get a job. Perhaps ask if you can do some overtime at your current company.

Then once you have some savings and experience in life, if it's still biting away at you then give it a go but with these sorts of jobs you have to be really confident, excellent over the phone and possibly have your own transport to get to place to place. Your insurance would then have to change and you would face major hurdles when you come to get any credit etc etc

you have to be registered self employed within 3 months of starting then keep accounts for yourself and then either you get an accountant or do the books yourself and tour tax return by 31st jan each year. i wouldnt advise you as its up to you and your personal circumstances.me personally i think being S/E is a lot of hassle but its entirely up to you.good luck though

be very careful of moving as not many people do well self employed. And guys like this often greatly exaggerate their earnings.

hi all,

yesterday i had a interview for carolina consulting in direct marketing, i did good enough to get a second interview/shadowing day today.

long story but ive been offered the job. =D

only problem is that its a self employed basis, i dont know the first thing about being self employed (im only 20)

im looking for guidance as whether to accept the offer or stay where i am.

i currently earn £16k a year working in a call centre, if i go for this new job they are uncapped but realesticly £200-250 a week, meaning im on less money straight away.

however over time i can work my way up the ranks and earn more and more, the guy who did my interview was actually on £75k

please help.
