It means someone was bidding against you.

Yesterday i bid on something and before i bid it said 2bids next to the item then i bid about three times then it said 5 bids have been made so the two that were there before where added with mine which was three which is equal to five. also everythime i bid it always says that i been out bided even though i was the only one who has been making the bids.
