Help with starting up PC cleaning business in the UK?

Posted at: 2014-12-08
It is a rather niche need, and many big offices I know take scant regard for PCs, keyboards and mice. Most users bring in their own wipes (the Dettoll type you get in supermarkets). Sometimes the IT dept will provide those tiny screen wipes, but that's it.

If Ebola or another bird flu scare arrives I guess you might get some traction. The good thing is you could start for about £50 set up costs for a few cards and a box of wipes. But you'd need to work very fast to generate much income.

Lastly, have you considered how much you could charge?

Good luck.

Nearly ALL pc cleaning businesses have another trade as their core business.

In over 10 years i have never EVER considered or even seen people searching for pc cleaning.

Most will own computer shops selling pc/laptops/devices and offer repair / cleaning as a sideline, although recently REPAIR is more popular for laptops.

So starting a pc cleaning business on its own would not be viable.

There are NO licences. The only licence needed here is for selling alcohol. You can try it for 3 months before you have to register as self employed with HMRC.

So just get on with it. Good Luck.

Best bet is to work for one and once you have enough experience start your own.

Looking to start up a pc cleaning business and just wondering if anyone can advise on what is needed ie. special licences etc as trawled through the net with no success.

Normal cleaning companies just keep popping up on google.

Have however found the basic start your own business pages on gov.uk but doesn't really help much

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!
