Firstly, you have pretty much said you ignored the debt and had no intention of paying - how did you think this was going to end? Scotcall are what's known as a doorstep debt recovery agent - not to be confused with bailiffs who are employed by the courts and have all sorts of powers to recover the debt. What they will probably do is intimidate you into paying but that's as far as they can go - they have no powers. DO NOT let them into your house, that's the only way they could do anything as it would be seen as allowing them to recover the debt. Tell them politely to go away and not visit again or you will call the police. Cases of debt owed to private companies can be passed to the courts and end up with a court bailiff visiting if you still don't pay up - for ￡150 that's unlikely due to the costs incurred up-front by the company for taking it to court. The danger with someone like ebay (money not a problem) is they could decide to make an example of you. I would find some way of paying this back just in case it does go to court - ebay can prove you ignored them which would weigh heavily in their favour - you would then have all the fees added onto that which they would claim back from you - not worth the hassle for ￡150.

RE Ebay debt collectors coming to my house HELP?

Right i was using ebay services last year and i build up ebay fees of up to 150 pounds and i didnt want to pay it back so i ignored all the emails from them.

3 months later i started receiving letters from newman & co a debt collectors agency saying i need to pay it back otherwise they are going to send someone to my address. so i panicked and paid 20 pound which was 4 weeks ago, since then i havent paid anything.

Present day i received a letter from an organisation called scotcall limited who i believe are working on the behalf of newman&co and their saying if i dont pay the amount their are going to send one of their man round to my address.

THE THING IS I AM ONLY 18 I HAVE NOTHING IN MY NAME..... WHAT WOULD THEY ACTUALLY DO ANYONE HAVE any valid advice or been through this ordeal?

To be honest when dealing with someone as big as ebay they will eventually get their money, they wont ever give up and youll be recieving letters and heavies at the door till youre 30, im 17 and use ebay all the time and some of their systems are a bit pushy etc,

I cant tell you what they will do to you or youre property but i will say that if you dont pay they will simply go to youre parents which im guessing you live with if you have nothing in youre name?

I know youre technically an adult but they will attempt to get the money however they can

My advice would be to pay the money whatever way you can, you may not have anything in youre name but what of bank accounts credit cards etc?

Should have paid your ebay fees monthly however if they're bailiffs they can take your possessions and auction them to pay off your debt. In fact I can't see how its built up because ebay usually suspend your account for just making 1 late payment

They can actually take you to court and the judge will order you to pay them.

The worst part of this ...it will take you years and years to build a credit score.

You won't be able to purchase anything on credit..you won't be able to buy a car or even have a

credit card.

Do you have a job? They may be able to garnishee your wages.
