Do it. You'll regret not trying. You could try to set up a little business with friends. That way together you guys can split the start-up costs. Look into whether you'll establish yourselves as an LLC or whatever before getting the necessary licenses/documents. My university donates money to student business start-ups - maybe yours does too.
Trying to start a little vending machine business on your campus sounds like a worthwhile effort.
