Not only what Piran said but also most businesses lease their premises: why bother cleaning carpets which are not yours (usual cleaning is expensive enough - we pay ￡1,400 per month to get one floor cleaned every night and business only has 40 employees) so carpets simply get changes every 10 years or so when lease is renewed

You need to realise if in the UK, very few businesses now have carpets. Laminate flooring came in years ago , its easy to clean and more hygienic, office furniture is now leather or heavy duty plastic.

Unfortunately for you, time has moved on, fashions have changed.

I've tried to set up appointments with general managers- they never want to.

I've tried just visiting businesses but they never want to talk.

I've tried calling businesses but they just want to get me off the phone.
