As important it's not wise to unnecessarily put your name and address on the internet.
If you did not register for a contest it's almost certainly a scam, probably Nigerians asking for some processing fee.
I found no other references to National award registry.
I have entered many sweepstakes, I am sorry I did, now I am inundated with mail. These sound and look so real, with money as tight as it is I do not put it past someone to keep pulling your chain of necessity, If I am the winner of all these hundreds of thousands of checks, I will be more than happy to pay for their document fee, certified mail & postage fees, so long as they send their check via USPS,C.O.D Certified, I will have no problem. But if you got on a list and you keep becoming a winner yet no funds are sent to you, something is wrong with this picture. People love to take advantage of the vulnerable and needy. Havn't gotten a dime from anyone
April 02, 2015 I received a notice from National Award Registry I'm a cash prize winner of $689,986.00 from a national advertising campaign. Money is from independent sponsor prizes that have yet to be claimed. Letter appears to be very legitimate If I don't sign and return release by 04/06/15 check will be destroyed for my protection. The money will be placed in fund as unclaimed, unaward cash prize and the company who awarded will continue to receive monthly interest. They request my payment of $20.00 by cash, check or money order payabe to National Award Registry. Deadline date is 04/06/15. I received notice several days ago. .
Mostly likely a fake check scam. Once the scammers have your address, they share it.
If you are supposed to cash it and send most of it somewhere via Western Union or Money Gram, it is definitely a scam.
I haave received the same check for 689,986.00, also from many other scammers, if it was real you wouldn't have to pay ANY MONEY to receive your prize. Don't send them a dime! All they want is your 20.00 and anyone else's who thinks they are legit.
Of course it's a scam. Random people don't just emerge from nowhere to give you money for no apparent reason.

no phone number for contact, it is a scam. a legit company would give a point of contact by phone
