Why is my available balance zero dollars?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
On Friday I deposited my check at police and fire federal credit union to my checking account. Throughout the day I used my card to make a few small purchases. On Saturday I went to the ATM at the bank to withdrawal money it said that my total checking account balance was $234.00 but my available balance was $0.00 and I don't understand why because I only spent about $40.00 on Friday. Why can't I withdrawal any money?

Because checks take 3 - 5 days to clear (go into your account). Plan on paying a few overdrafts (depending on the # of your small purchases).

If you deposited the check at an ATM, there's a hold on funds until they open it up and process the cheque. Otherwise, you could deposit nothing, withdraw it immediately and run away.

It takes several days for your check to clear. Like the other poster said you are going to owe several overdraft fees.

because the check or checks that you deposited have not CLEARED yet. The money is NOT available until the bank gets their money from the bank on which the check was written

Funds in cheque haven't cleared, so check again Tuesday.

Every time you use a debit card the business places a "hold" on your account until the transactions clear

Your pay check has not cleared yet.

Deposit cash and you'll do fine.

innumerate is the word that describe you
