I live in a place called Cape Breton, and we have some of the worst unemployment rates in the country. The worst, according to certain ratings. Being a part of this statistic, it's so stressful and depressing that I haven't been able to get a stable, even minimum wage, job since I turned 16. I have had two student jobs with little hours, getting me my lunch money, but I can't go for another summer with nothing in the bank. Now I'm living on PB&Js and poptarts, and sometimes a sandwich with lettuce.

Not to mention, my step-dad is always after me for not having a job, and that I don't do anything (frankly, because I can't get one). It's not like I can control the economy and fill all the vacant buildings around town.

All I care about is to be able to move out and away from this place. Unfortunately, I have nothing to help me do that. Any advice?

Have you considered joining the military? That would get you out. You can also consider going to community college to get more education so you're more attractive to employers. Or you can figure out a business you can do online to make money. Or you can offer to become a caregiver to someone elderly in exchange for some money and a room to live in. You can also buy some seeds fairly cheaply so you can plant food and eat it. You might consider beans, tomatoes and peas for summer and potatoes for fall. You can also go to the food bank for food.

If no work locally, get educated and move where work is.

have you actually looked for employment ? I just did a google search for "employment on cape breton" and while there are not the 1000's of openings as in the USA, there are jobs available.............take some time and look online for what is near you that you are able to get to and don't require lots of experience
