How to reduce electricity bill?

lectricity is so expensive is there any method that I can slow down my meter

Only by using less electricity.

The biggest way to save electricity is not to use it for heating. So use gas instead. Portable heaters with bottled gas is still cheaper than heating by electricity. Also (despite most people hating the idea, or at any rate the practising of it) wearing more clothes during the cold months will save heating bills. But most people seem to want to dress for mid summer in mid winter & just turn their heating up.

Still with heating, if your heating is electric don't heat the whole house 24/7. Just heat the room you're in. And shut the door to keep the heat in that room. Another practical suggestion that most people seem to have a huge aversion to, but it's just common sense. And if you have curtains close them at night, that also keeps heat in.

Last thing with heating, get your house fully insulated. Cavity wall insulation if you have cavity walls, loft insulation & double glazing. But that will be extremely expensive. Well there are government grants to help with the wall & loft insulation now, that should help if you don't already have it.

Another good way is to have absolutely nothing on standby. When you finish using something turn it off. Properly off. Stuff on standby is using power to do nothing. It takes a few seconds to turn something on with the on switch rather than a remote.

Also turn all lights off when not in a room.

Tumble driers, cookers & kettles use a lot of electricity so minimise use of these where possible.

Last thing, generate your own electricity. Have solar panels. These will cost about £10,000 to have installed, but once you've paid that back you generate your own electricity while the sun shines. Not, sadly, in the evenings, when most people want most of their electricity, but in the future it may be possible to have big batteries to save home generated electricity in. Unfortunately these are very new, so are extremely expensive.

Yes, OK, if you're so poor you're worrying about paying the bills you won't be able to afford most of the long term big project suggestions I've made here. So you have to go back to the old fashioned methods.

Oh, just thought of another heat one. have an open fire for warmth if your house has a working fireplace. Then you can gather your own wood, sometimes for free, just the 'expense' of being bothered to look for it (which isn't as easy as just pressing a switch).

Good luck, hope some of these ideas help.

Turn your A/C up or your Heater down so that it doesn't use as much energy. A fan uses a fraction of the amount of energy as an A/C and if you don't want to use your heater, just put some more clothes on. During the hot summers, even a difference of 2-5 degree F would be the about a $100-$200 price difference.

"Slowing down your meter" would be stealing from the electricity company.

Try using low-energy light bulbs (globes) or LED bulbs. Try cooking much more by natural gas rather than by electricity. Try not to use electrical heating. Use a hob kettle on gas, not an electric kettle. Do not overfill the kettle, fill only one cup's worth of water if you only want one cup of coffee etc.

Turn off the lights and don't use electric appliances including heaters and air conditioners.

Turn off the lights when you leave a room, turn off appliances at the powerpoint, don't use electric heaters.

My name's not Bill.

Use a fully mechanical film camera. Assuming you meant to post this in the Photography section?

concentrate at the use of ACs Heaters, Ironing and Refrigerators Try to maintain minimum uses of these items.

Unplug whatever you're not using, lower your heat or raise your air conditioning.
