have i been scammed.?

i've just went to a job interview. he explained the job told me i start monday. here's where i'm confused, the training cost a certain amount ( 500 to be exact with a 100 down payment) ive gone over a contract which states that in fact the company he works for is a training referral company.

You are probably going to some type of training facility as a student, not as an employee at a company. Likely, they train you, and promise to find you an employment later.

If this was a real employment, once you are in the company, you are an employee. Training is part of work. They pay you, not you pay them, even for your orientation and training. Sometimes your pay is lower during training period, but never lower than the minimum wage. If you are being asked to pay, this is not an employment.

I don't know what kind of agreement you have but I would not sign any contract for something like this. Keep in mind, if you are younger than 18, anything you've signed is null and void, so you can legally walk away.

I seriously doubt, once you are done with this training, they'll find you a job.

Run!!! Any reputable employer or even a training facility would not ask for money up front to train you. Once employed, training is part of the job and is delivered in an effort to make sure you are an effective and capable employee. If you are hired on as an employee, in most cases training is paid. If it is not paid, worst case is its unpaid training which means you are training on your own time and not being compensated, but they are certainly not asking you to shell over dollars. ....If they are asking for money to train you, this is not a venture you DO NOT want to take. Do not sign anything. Its just sad how people would take advantage of job seekers that are in need of employment! You did the right thing by asking!

Are you sure the person who interviewed works for the company and you would be working for a training referral company? This sounds like a head hunter and charging you a fee. Dont do it. A legitimate job is not going to charge you for training.

There are companies that make you sign a contract that if you are trained and don't stay a certain length of time that you will owe them the cost of training back.

Sounds like it. I would end the interview process as soon as I was told I have to pay anything. That is very atypical of the hiring process. If a company wants to hire you, they won't try to extract cash.

SCAM

If you are required to pay for training for a job, a legitimate employer takes these costs out of your first paycheck. You DO NOT pay upfront

I never heard of new employees being charged for training, the hiring company pays them during training.

Al they are doing is "training" you for some future job if it comes along.

Yes. They are in business to make money off people who they train, not hiring them. Do not go ahead with that. It is a common rip-off.

Scamming scumbags!

yes you should never have to pay for training
