got fired from Dunkin Donuts , what are my rights ?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
i got fired from my job ( Dunkin Donuts ) they didn't tell me until i call the store and ask when to come and continue working , my manager is not a fair person , 2 weeks ago he told me that i must take more hours and i told him that i can't do that for now because i have another job , so he gave me a paper and ask me to write that i can work only my hours and im not able to work for more hours , so i did and signed the paper but

when i called them 2 weeks later he told me that im not in the schedule yet ( im fired ) and i must bring back the apron and the hat to take my last check , and he told me that i will need to sign some papers before leaving

should i sign any papers ?

do i have any rights to take from them ?

the last question ... should i ask him to give me my work papers which i gave to him when i start working with them 2 months ago ( i mean the W-4 and the I-9 ? or its safe to leave my work papers there ( i think its in the company not in the store now ) ?

thanks :)

They CAN fire you for almost any reason ..... so bring back their stuff and collect your pay !!

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING !!!

If they say you must sign or don`t get your pay , walk out and go to the work-related government agency in your area and file a claim . Once the claim is filed , they`ll pay you PRONTO !!!

dont sign anything no matter what u do. ask for your papers back as well at the start.

dont bring them the apron and hat they dont deserve it trust me.

bring it up with the buisness fairness team what ever those people are called again to.

I would not sign anything. But be glad that you got fired because people need better jobs than working at the Dunkin. Get educated and get money and the less people can tell you what to do.

They can fire you for this, there is no law protecting you. You can ask for your papers, but why would you want/need them? You kept the originals, right?

Return their property, the apron and hat. Whatever they issue you for working is theirs. That is routine.

By law they must keep the I-9 and W-4 on file for all employees, current and those who left, for taxes and payroll deductions. It is safe. Those are not your papers.

You do not need to sign any papers before leaving. Go apply for unemployment compensation which you can do with another job, when your hours are reduced. You can get it along as there was no gross misconduct. You simply were not available when they needed someone to work.
