This is one of the reasons why I keep most of my money in smaller banks, not in big banks like Citibank. I don't trust them because their employees seem to mostly be incapable of doing business without almost constant errors and stupidity. And that goes for all the big banks, with Citibank just being one example. Bank of America is actually the bank that wasted the most of my time over the years, but Citibank seems the least competent overall.
My question is, why? What's special about a big bank that causes their employees to act so stupid?
Those "re-targeting" ads are triggered by the a that you once visited the information page about that plan and a "cookie" was set in your browser, the ads pretty well are shown automatically to anyone so marked, and are meant to make it easier to re find that information later, because this process is anonymous for your protection it can't tell if you already have the card.
There may be an Adchoice link on these ads that would allow you to disable those particular ads, or you can Clear Cookies to kill all re-targeting ads, and perhaps some handy site shortcuts as well.
Also I have credit scores in the 800's, but when I applied for the Double Cash card, they acted like they were doing me a big favor to give me any credit, and gave the card the lowest credit limit of all my credit cards. One of my cards from another bank has a credit limit 45 times higher than the limit Citibank initially gave me on their Double Cash card, and several of them have limits more than 30 times higher. Citibank increased the limit by taking some of the limit from another Citibank card I have, but it's still the lowest of all my cards.
Citibank makes money when you use the card, so advertising to you after you apply for the card is smart move.
If you think this rant about using small banks makes you look smart, it doesn't.
What's more stupid, then? "Stupid" big banks or people who use them when they know that the bank is "stupid"?
