Why does Amazon keep declining my payment?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
Like goddamn I'm just trying to order $20 worth of stuff with my parents' credit card. I entered in the credit card information and the billing address exactly. It's not a sketchy card or anything, it's a perfectly regular card with plenty of money on it. Amazon says my order went through and then a day later I get an email saying ng payment was declined with no reason given except "sometimes banks may withhold orders if the name or address doesn't match exactly" so I try it again and get the same message a day later. What the **** do o have to do to make a goddamn $20 purchase? Call the damn bank? Is it because the credit card name has a middle initial and the billing address I left it out? Avert a goddamn theft crisis for not including a middle initial? Goddamn, I swear. Why do banks suck so much. I mean can they at least give me a REASON why it didn't go through so that I can rectify it? Someone please explain to me why it keeps getting declined? Is it because Amazon automatically turned my zip code into extended version but the credit card is associated with the shorter version? Some basic tiny difference like that? Like goddamn, please explain to me what exactly the **** is wrong with my payment.

Most likely, Amazon doesn't have access to information regarding why the payment was declined.

At my job, we process credit card cash advances, and if the card is declined, literally all we can see is, "Declined, do not process." As a third-party, rather than the bank or the cardholder, we are not *allowed* to see information about balances or why a card is declined.

Amazon might be in the same situation, which is why they can't say why it was declined and can instead only give you common suggestions.

I would try it again, using the middle initial that's on the card (because yes, that is part of the cardholder's legal name on file). If that still doesn't work, then you will have to call the bank and find out why they're blocking the purchase. Well, your parents will have to call them, as you legally have no authority over the account and aren't authorized to ask questions (unless you're a joint account holder).

Why don't you get your parents to use another credit card and make sure the billing address is correct and the name is correct.

Sometime online business did this to prevent fraud. Also if a card been missed used a couple of times the company will not even accept it.

This happened to my BF once with another online store. He didn't review the billing address correctly so they decline him. He tried again but forgot to check the address again. So they won't even accept his card at all after the third try with all the correct information. So I end up using my own credit card and it when through the first try.

Ummm, grow up and establish your own credit? So you don't have to use mommy and daddy's money? For the millions of us who never have problems like this, we have to conclude that it is something you are doing wrong for sure.

Also, if the bank told Amazon anything about the "why" of the rejection, you'd probably be the first in line to sue them over the violation of the privacy laws.

probably that you put your name instead of your parents' name and of course the bank doesn't accept the payment!

My heart is like, breaking.
