My manager is being forced out?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
Hello I work for a big company recently a lot of changes has happened regarding managers. We have a new top boss whose horrendous! He doesn't do any work and sits around planning his weekends out or talking about getting drunk!! They have got rid of 2 managers who were his deputy's, who have worked for the company for years and have always done a good job, yes they were strict but they met their targets and exceeded them, his being performance managed and has blamed them for him screwing up. He has replaced them with 2 young boys who have only worked for the company for 12 weeks!!! Who as you can imagine are a nightmare. Now

He is trying to force out anyone else that's strong and will speak out in the company, I work for a supermarket and my old checkout manager even though we didn't get on, she was one of the best in the country at her job, she has been moved onto another dept, we have a part time manager who amazingly has made my dept a nicer place to work, whilst maintaining my previous managers high standards. Now our store manager is trying to get her to resign, as he said in 4 months she won't have a job, on our dept and has offered her full time hours elsewhere, which she like myself can't do because of her little boy. What can I do? I'm not prepared to work for someone else who has little knowledge of my dept, or of my company. All the other 200 staff I work with are prepared to do an organised walk out to keep her. Any advice on this?

Hi so with private enterprise this is how it is kid live with it. so he wants things to be more profitable. greed always gets to be more greedy. this is what has killed off most of british companies.

You work for a supermarket so not a small or inexperienced business. I am sure the higher ups know what they are doing, they put this chap into his position after all. You are seeing things from your position in the company but you don't know everything about what is going on, what future plans are etc. If you are not happy or feel your job is at threat then look for something else but other than that you are an employee and you do what is asked of you to earn your wage, even if that means working under a boss you do not respect.

get another job

You are an employee

How the company is run or how the managers work is none of your business

The only thing you could do is sue for contructive dismissal if you were bullied, discriminated against, or treated unfairly, but you would need good evidence to make it stick.

An organised walk out? Time you all grew up. If you don't like, get another job.
