Is ExxonMobil right in not investing in renewable energy, declaring "We choose not to lose money on purpose."?

Someone keeps moving this to Corporations.

They just have to look at companies like solyndra and see where "green" energy will lead their company. They are smart enough to stay out of populist movements that can't make a profit.

quite simple, renewable energy is not a very good investment..

...haven't you heard of all the solar companies that have either gone belly up or exposed as blatant scams?

...haven't you heard of all the geothermal projects canceled by the federal government (hmmm....who's in charge of the federal government right now?) because they are simply not cost-effective?

If they aren't, it means that their act of distancing themselves from the Heartland Institute was greenwashing.

no.
