It's not the busiest place, so for the past 6 months I've been working by myself which was great!
Last Saturday I had to work with my boss for the first time all year. I had a rough week outside of work, and working with him only added to the stress. I'm usually very adaptable with people, but he and I don't mesh well at all.
I texted him today asking when my other coworker is working and explained that it was stressful working with him last week. This coworker and I have no problems and it's very laid back.
He lets me make my own schedule, so I told him I will be able to work Friday since he won't be working that night.
I also said that it has "nothing to do with you. It's just me and this week. Thanks for understanding"
Was this okay to do?
Since this is the second time you have asked this question, I will give you my second answer - like your question, the answer doesn't change - no, it was not okay to do. You need to hope he has either a sense of humor or a thick skin. My first question would be - why should your outside life impede on my business and why on earth would I care how your outside life affects you in my workplace. I might then decide that maybe you and the sandwich shop were not such a good fit.
Annoying him doesn't bother me, I'd have a problem with my employee trying to dictate who they'd work with. If you prefer not to work with particular employees, I'd be happy to leave you off the schedule. We all have co-workers that irritate us to some degree. We just go to work and endure it.
I imagine there are some folks that don't particularly like working with you.
Not the brightest thing to do or say..... so hope your boss has a sense of humour and needs to keep you as an employee..... you do not complain about the boss to anyone, not his daughter or other staff and certainly not to him....
No, it was not. You cannot tell a boss that and expect any respect from him. You dissed him to his face.
