Can I get a refund (ebay)?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I recently bought a second hand iBook G4 for about £90 as it's a cost-friendly way for me to use a laptop for just surfing the web and using word for my work reports.

I've struggled using it whereby I can't actually download anything whatsoever because the processor isn't valid anymore on any programs made for MacBooks. Web pages take up to ten minutes to load, I can't download anything without 'failed to mount: corrupt image' coming up. It's a problem with the MacBook being old. I asked the seller whether the laptop was still usable for every day tasks and s/he said yes. All the description said was that it was in working order.

Could I get a refund? Please advise.

The item is precisely as described and works as designed. It's your fault for asking vague general questions instead of for exact specifications. This is your punishment for not doing your homework.

Did you ever wonder why it was so cheap?

No refund for you Alice, it is because you don't know how to use it that you are having problems with it. The seller has sold you a working ibook and is not going to refund you any money.

Go for some tuition on how to use the iBook properly.

sadly you didnt do your research

for your purposes it would have been as simple as googling ibook g4 and reading most recent information that comes up

when they said it was usable, they were correct in what they said, lets face it, its not their job to advise you that the machine is a decade old

to my mind no misrepresentation occurred from the sellers end

Talk to the seller, tell her it's not as described and you want your money back.

If she won't comply, take it to ebay.

Did the seller offer a refund? We do not know that so look and see.

You should shop on Amazon instead of E-Bay. Amazon always allows returns. E-Bay is mostly a rip-off. I doubt you will be able to get your money back. Buyer beware.
